Journey of an Immortal

Vedder / Cerberus

Odin #7 - Ripped up w/ Ease
[info]vedderffxi
Well first, a little diversion from FFXI related stuff to just announce on here that my baby daughter was born this past Friday, July 3rd.  So things have gotten really different around here and that's partly behind the delay in my posting lately, but it's all super worth it!  :D

Odin #7:
Originally we were supposed to do our 7th Odin last Wednesday, but I wasn't able to make it last minute and I wasn't able to make arrangements with people who were comfortable running the show in my absence so we pushed it back.  Normally, we'd go to Einherjar on Sundays, but since it was a holiday weekend we decided we'd get a solid turnout on Monday night instead ... sure enough we did.  31 out of 38 with access showed up, giving us our most attended (and easiest) Odin since our first.

There I am as COR assisting the RNG team again.  :P  We only had 2 RNGs this time, but a whopping 4 SMNs and lots of SAMs and WARs, so this Odin was a breeze.  I also overcompensated on healing and support since we had more deaths than I like last time and it worked great.  Fomors blasted a few people (including me on the last set), but all-in-all we had a really smooth kill.

Drops were exciting too!

Woot!  Our first Martial and Aquarian Body Abjurations.  Up until now, we'd only seen E., P., and H. Bodies... so a little variety is nice to see.  Our 6th Odin specific item in 7 kills is pretty hot too.  :D  Our 3rd Helm, so the LS is getting really horny.

The folks above were the winners of the drops... only H.Hands were completely free lotted.  I'm really hoping that SE changes the drop rate of abjurations in the regular chambers, since we're seeing as many bodies as other drops so far ... and we really need some Neptunal.  D:

Other Stuff:
Not much else to report FFXI-wise since my last post.  We did a Salvage on Monday night with Superfesty in our group, but we're taking a bit of a break from Salvage to coincide with the vacation the Linkshell is on.  We did well, but timed out on the damn boss because we took too long on the way there (my fault), but the group is doing well killing all 10 gears on the way to LBC so that's good.  We don't need too many 25s from LBC yet, but hopefully Arra starts dropping more.

As alluded to above, Immortality is on a summer vacation for a couple of weeks to recharge the batteries and to give people a chance to do what they want for a few weeks.  We've done this the past few years at X-mas and in the summer and it's worked out great.  We tend to always have a few people that never show back up, but they'd likely drop off the face of the earth either way, so no big deal.

I doubt I make many posts here while we're on break, so I'll be seein' ya.  :P

Quotation of the Day: "Figures" - Wodie, after seeing A.Body drop for the first time after he changed his wishlist.

Ready for Vacation
[info]vedderffxi
The Linkshell will be taking a couple weeks off soon like we usually do during the summer and again around winter holidays... so most of July will be event free.  I'm ready for it too ... either more people are bitchy or I'm more annoyed by regular bitching since we're almost on our break, but whatever it is I'm ready to not be bothered by it for awhile.

Until then though, there's a few things that we're done and a few more we hope to do before Vacation hits!

Einherjar:
Sunday we completed our first perfect 3/3 path back to Odin's Chamber.  We did our Wing 3 last week so we circled back for the Wing 2 to finish us up yesterday.  We actually had Dahaks, followed by Slimes/Leeches, and the Dahak boss.  That exact layout has wiped us in the past, but this time we breezed through easily.  Tanngrisnir was the last Wing 2 boss we'd never beaten, so with that we're 6/6 on Wing 1 and Wing 2 boss kills.  We don't get him much though, but now none of the W2 bosses are really a threat as long as we're in good shape leading into them.

I put together a headcount and we have 36 people exactly with access to Odin's Chamber, so even though I thought we might have to do a reclear, it's looking like we'll head right back to try Odin unless a lot of people with access aren't able to make it.

ZNMs:
We managed to knock out 4 Deas, 2 Nuhns, and a Gotoh Saturday night.  I like ZNMs in general, but the worst thing about them is getting to some of them.  We tend to focus more on Tinnin path than anything just because all the mobs are within a close distance to Whitegate.  Tyger path especially has so many annoying out of the way pops that it's just a pain to deal with.

One of the Dea pops was mine and I was hoping for Enkidu's Subligar, but no dice... Cletine only, ORZ.  I had zeni saved up for Sarameya, but I dipped into it for Dea and now I'm 2/3 toward another Tinnin.  I'm going to have to get back out and farm zeni.

Dynamis/Sky:
This past Thursday was Sky and there was nothing out of the ordinary there.  Nariseth helped me when we split up the group to knock out more NMs concurrently, so that was good.  2 Seiryu's and 2 Genbu's yielded the normal fare and now we're 3/4 of the way to a couple of Kirins.

Sunday we were planning to go for Dynamis Lord again, but I guess it's the summertime or something and we didn't have the horses to make an attempt.  I'm sure we could have, but it wasn't going to be a success so we farmed for coins and AF2 instead.  Our most abundant drop, BLM head, showed up twice more and we got THF hands and PLD body again as well.... 10 AF2 in total, quite nice.  Hmmm, maybe we can start trying to sell AF2 soon.

Other Stuff:
The other stuff portion of my post today focuses on my Corsair and two things to note about it.  First, I got a 5th merit point via Campaign so I spent it on my next to last upgrade for COR... Snake Eye #4.  5 more merits and COR is fully merited in the Group 1 & Group 2 categories.

The 2nd thing is that I bought a Corsair's Gun +1 out of a bazaar on Saturday.  It's got the highest base DMG of any Gun COR can equip, thus making it the best Quick Draw Gun you can get:

I may have overpaid slightly, but the HQs are a very rare find.  It's a high Bonecraft main, unknown Smithing sub recipe and it's barely ever crafted because it's hard to sell the NQs due to the limited number of people who play COR.  I figured it would cost me 720k just to have a Bonecraft friend I know attempt one 24 times and even then I wouldn't be guaranteed a HQ, so I just bit the bullet (/rimshot) and bought the HQ straight up.

Quotation of the Day: "exp cacaw" - Deluge, sending out the RNG XP pt signal.

Zhayolm Remnants is Generous
[info]vedderffxi
As part of our double Salvage night on Monday, we started off with Zhayolm Remnants.  We'd done it twice before, the first time we popped and killed both 5F & 6F frogs before timing out.  The next time, we needed a boss kill, so we killed 5F and tried to take down 6F really fast, but got delayed by Charm so we just ported up for the boss kill.  Well this time, we finally managed to knock out both 5F and 6F frogs PLUS the boss.... and even better, we got drops!

That's our 2nd Gambison off 5F and first multiple 35 drop ever.  Congrats to Elphie on the Gambison, Kalian on the Gote, and Mirallia on the Tiara.  That bumped us up to 8 total 35 armor drops in our group... with a couple people getting a 35 here or there in pick-up runs.  Believe it or not now, we're backed up on boss drops to complete pieces.  We can complete 3 pieces from Arra boss, 3 (still) from Zhay boss, and 1 from Bhaflau boss.  Ramparts are still a bitch in Bhaflau, so we don't need any SSR boss drops at the moment.... but hopefully that will change soon.  We didn't see any NMs Monday in our 2nd run, but we managed another boss kill which was nice.

For me personally, I picked up the Skadi 25 Hands from the Zhayolm boss and I'm now 2/3 on all the Skadi armor.  I think this is where the waiting game occurs though.  I can complete the feet if the Bhaf boss will just drop the 25s, but he's not done so in 2 runs to date.  The other 4 pieces are going to require the 35 drop to finish.  Hopefully I get lucky in Zhay and/or SSR and the 35s drop there... but it'll be quite awhile before I get a shot at the 35 body.  Everyone wants to farm 2F ramparts and by the time we make it to 4F and kill the gears, we're running too close on time to try the Rampart at all.  That just leaves the 35 for the Head, which lets face it, isn't that hot when completed, so if it happens to drop in Bhaflau I suppose I'll lot it but I'm not going to mess with upgrading it before the other pieces.

Quotation of the Day: "some of these are really dumb" - Kalian, prepping his bee jokes for the 2F Rampart in Bhaflau.

Not Much of a Weekend; Omega #35
[info]vedderffxi
The standard weekend event fare didn't yield much at all this time around for the LS, but I made some personal progress.

My Nyzul group did Bhaflau on Friday with no NM pops whatsoever.  Saturday was another Limbus - Omega.  Sunday was an easy Einherjar Wing 1 win... then supposed to be followed up with another split Dynamis, but a bunch of people had to take off for Father's Day related activities so we just did Tavnazia by itself.  Sadly, only DRK Body and SCH Head dropped even though they hit all the timers and killed the usual sort of stuff.

The main thing for me over the weekend was getting to XP Ranger 3 times.  None of the parties were amazing, but they all did the job.  I was able to burn the final 4 charges on my Anniversay band and go from level 61-64 over the weekend.  I'm sure it will be much slower going now without the Anniversary band bonus, but I've never been in a hurry to get to 75.  Rizelmine is leveling BRD and Kal/Del are always leveling something so hopefully they look out for me when trying to do XP parties.... otherwise I'll randomly flag up when I've got time and see what I can get.

Oh, Thursday we did ZNMs.  There was quite a good turnout but we couldn't get through nearly all the pops.  I think 6 people had Armed Gears and that thing is just a pain to deal with.  We did some Mamools, Nosferatu's, and Khromasouls.  Here's a cool SS I took of Nosferatu:

Oh!  And yesterday I was able to pick up my Commodore Tricorne +1:

As you can see, it's mostly a whitebox item... but it does have the most ratk for any Corsair headpiece.  I'm pretty sure it's outdone by Corsair's Tricorne +1 and Zha'Go's Barbut for both WS and regular ranged attacks, but if I ever want to mess around and try out a max ratk build I guess this will be nice to have.  Oh well ... it cost me 90k in total since I farmed up the Ovinnik Hide needed for the trade-in material.  I'm doing well enough I can spend 90k for whitebox.  :P

Total Omega Drop Summary (35):
Homam Corazza - 13
Homam Cosciales - 14
Homam Gambieras - 20
Homam Manopolas - 15 (+1 Mastervivi)
Homam Zucchetto - 21 (+1 Isominds)

Quotation of the Day: "" - The Mamool ZNM was eating our Tarus when we fought him Thursday.... hehe.

Omega #34; Dynamis-Valkurm Drops a Load
[info]vedderffxi
Proto-Omega:
Oh, another Omega?  Really?  What's an Omega but an event that we can now just about sleep through and win with ease.  I'm probably going to just start posting drops cause what's the point otherwise.  This time we got Hands & Head, which was meh, but at least both got lotted.  Congrats to Evangel and Jickler respectively.

Total Omega Drop Summary:
Homam Corazza - 13
Homam Cosciales - 14
Homam Gambieras - 20
Homam Manopolas - 14
Homam Zucchetto - 20

Dynamis-Valkurm:

Here's the /jawdrop shot from our Dynamis-Valkurm last night:

In total, we got the following:
9 AF2-1: BLM, COR, DNC, DRG, PUP, RDM, SCH, WAR x2
7 AF2: DNC, MNK, NIN, RNG, THF, WAR, WHM
5 Accessories: BLM, NIN, SAM, SMN, THF

A very nice haul overall and easily our best Dynamis-Valkurm ever.  No Valor Capes, so the PLDs continue to get no respect, but hopefully they'll start showing up soon.

I picked up the COR -1 for myself and will upgrade it since it takes Byne Bills.  It's not really awesome outside of whitebox, but since it takes Bynes it's worth the upgrade, imo.

Salvage:
We have done 3 Salvage since my last entry and have made some progress.  Monday, we did 2 runs and in the first run, Archaic Chariot dropped the Skadi 35 feet which I lotted and won.  Rizelmine almost ninja'd them from me, I think he was trying to lot a cell as items were shifting in the treasure pool, but luckily passed right away and they dropped to me seconds after.  Ha!  I now only need the 25s from the Bhaf boss to finish them off.

Our next run was a 2F Rampart farm + Boss run in Bhaflau.  No NMs appeared, but we did fully nerf LBC again and killed it with ease.  Bodb's Robe & Crown dropped and there was rejoicing.

Tuesday night, Wodie needed the slot NM from SSR to get his Nemain's Robe for 3/3 Morrigan's Body.  We had a group of 7, but it wasn't the most ideal group ever.  We killed HB, Dekka, G1, and G3 and none of them dropped.  We were able to kill the Slot NM for the drops we needed, but it ended up costing us time we needed for the boss and we timed out.  Oh well ... at least Wodie is 3/3 on his Robe and going to finish up the ingots soon.

Quotation of the Day: "Never doing Salvage again without Mira or Kal, so don't ask >.>" - Rizelmine, after main healing in the SSR we did as RDM/WHM.

Odin #6 Killed Dead and Other Stuff
[info]vedderffxi
Here's a pic of me with the RNG Team for Odin #6!  I'm still COR though >.>

Our 6th Odin was sort of weird.  We were back to our normal 1 kiter approach with a total of 28 people present ... so effectively 7 more than last time, however we got below the 5 minute warning on this one.  I'm not sure, I think we had too many DDs die along the way and it slowed our damage down some.  Oh well, it ended up being a win and although it was a bit messy near the end, the drops made up for it!

That's our 4th E.Body and our 5th Odin specific item (2nd Fork).  No one else had any of the other drops on their wishlist, but we found lotters for them after the fact.  Congrats to everyone below on their drops!

I'm still holding out for N.Legs, but if we keep getting E.Body then it's gonna be harder and harder for me to wait it out.  We've still never seen Aquarian, Marital, or Wyrmal Body Abjurations at all in 6 Odins.  The odds of that happening have to be absolutely miniscule since you can get up to 2 Body drops per Odin and there's a 1/6 chance of any of the Bodies dropping per slot.  Crazy.

Split Dynamis:
As we did in March, we ran concurrent Dynamis with one group going to Tavnazia and the other going to San d'Oria.  We got 7 total drops in Tavnazia; BLU & RDM -1 Legs, 2x WHM Body, RDM Body, RNG Body, and the Hydra Legs NPC item. >.>  Not bad in the sense that only the Hydra was free lotted, so people wanted the rest of the stuff.  The Sandy group just mainly farmed but were able to get the win as well.

Sea NMs:
It looks like we're on an alternating schedule of stuff dropping for Sea.  Saturday we went back swimming and killed 6 Jailers and Ix'Mnk and got nothing other than the 100% drops from any of them.  It was too late to start up a JoL, though we do have a popset for it for next time.  Sea is still going well, but more and more people are coming now so I think the competition for drops is going to pick up pretty soon.

Sky NMs:
Going back to Thursday, we were back up in Sky for one of our twice monthly visits.  This trip was exceptionally nice as we obtained a full set of God trigger pops minus Brigandish Blade.  After that, we popped 4 Byakko's ... 2 were ours and 2 were Shemc's.  The first one dropped total crap, but the last 3 all dropped Haidates.  :D :D :D  Congrats to Tsuruya, Isominds, and Shemc on their new fancy pants.

Salvage:
Friday night we finally got another shot at the Bhaflau Remnants boss.  Of course, no NMs from the 2F rampart, but Evangel pulled all 10 gears clean and we killed them before warp, so we got a nice easy boss who died without incident.  Ares Head/Body 25s dropped and everyone got their title making most 4/4 on the Salvage boss titles now.  Woot!

Tonight we are planning our first double Salvage if we can get people there and ready to start on time.  I'm hoping for the best.

Quotation of the Day: "" - Kuyon has pretty much wanted this forever and it finally dropped with him in point position to lot it!

Othinus' Bow Get
[info]vedderffxi

On my 2nd kill, yet after numerous hours of camping, I got my Othinus' Bow!

This guy can pop anytime 2 hours after the last kill with no upper bounds, as I understand it.  Both times it popped, I was there for at least 3.5 hours killing placeholders and there was another time Evangel helped me try to pop it for over 3 hours before I finally got exhausted and went to bed.

Some interesting tidbits from my camping ... First, I recapped THF XP twice.  Second, I made 17 bronze ingots out of beastcoins stolen from mobs while waiting on the pop.  That's over 5 stacks of beastcoins.  Finally, I made couple hundred thousand gil both from selling scrolls to NPCs and straight up gil dropping from the Goblin placeholders.

For this particular kill, I was solo as THF/DNC.  I didn't have any NPC charges left, so I was all alone.  My only real worry was Eagle Eye Shot which I ate for 978 damage, but was able to Waltz my HP back up relatively easily.  He missed me a lot and I didn't take much damage at all aside from the EES.

Looking ahead for my RNG, I've got most all the gear I need to get to level 75 and be legitimate.  I'll need to snag a Wyvern Helm from the AH... and Euryto's/Vali's Bow still eludes me, but I'm either going to camp that or buy one off the AH.

Other Stuff:
- Blasted through a Wing 2 chamber in Einherjar last night unlocking Odin access once more for the LS.  It was almost like a Wing 1 chamber, we tore it up so easily.  The 10 minute warning passed with the Flayer boss at about 15%, so that means there was something like 9 minutes remaining when we got the clear.  :D  Even better, feather mules are lined up for the forseeable future (unless one disappears again).
- Tuesday night the LS completed 2 Proto-Omega chipsets.  That means more Omegas coming up.  We mostly need Homam Cosciales, but anything besides Zuchettos will be welcomed by the LS.

Quotation of the Day: "Incoming no drop again" - Evangel, trying to jinx me on my Wyvernpoacher kill.  D:

Finally, some things to get happy about
[info]vedderffxi
The last couple weeks have had their high points, but also had some pretty aggravating disappointments.  Since my last update, there's been quite a few good things to report, so here we go!

Sea NMs:
I'll start right out with the best news from the event, our first full drop JoL!

It was our 9th Jailer of Love overall and the first one that dropped all the drops.  Rejoicing was heard as Evangel got Love Torque, Detanita got Novio, and I snagged Novia.  I figure I'll use it for an Evasion build and because unlike some people I actually think points are there to be spent.

Earlier in the night, we got 3 more Torques as well... Temperance, Fortitude, and Hope.  So out of the 6 Jailers we killed Thursday, we were rewarded with 4 Torques in total which is awesome.

Here's the latest overall Torque/Earring count:
Temperance - 4
Fortitude - 2
Faith - 1
Justice - 3
Hope - 3
Prudence - 0
Love - 3
Novio - 4
Novia - 6

Limbus:
It was time for another Ultima set as we've been saving up our popsets for awhile now.  This one was much better than the one on Tuesday as I understand it, but again we were cursed with a Turban drop.  Nevertheless Lynkyn lotted it and the other item was Gages which Wonton had been waiting for and used his point leader position to nab them.

Total Ultima Drop Summary (8):
Nashira Crackows - 3
Nashira Gages - 4
Nashira Manteel - 0
Nashira Seraweels - 3
Nashira Turban - 6

Sunday Events:
Finally a Sunday schedule worth talking about.  We started it out with a very much needed Brunhilde's Chamber win to complete our Wing 3 requirements for the next Odin.  It was a very pleasant draw of Marids followed by Wivres/Tauri and the Khimaira boss.  Now we just need to backtrack and get a Wing 2 clear for our feather mule and most of the LS and we're ready for Odin.  We already have 15 people with Odin access and a possible 36 more that can get access with a Wing 2 clear, so there's no way we're coming up short on Odin next time.

After that, Beseiged was going down, so everyone ran over there to snag a Revitalizer to refresh 2 hour abilities and we went to Dynamis-Qufim.  It was one of our more smooth runs in that zone, but we didn't get any accessory drops at all which was really disappointing.  We got 3 AF2-1 and 6 regular city AF2 so all in all it was ok, but we've gotten as many as 10 accessories in one run there before so to get zero was a bummer.

Since we've cut back on our sky schedule a bit, we're not getting Kirin popsets as fast as we used to but we had 3 built up and the plan was to use them all last night.  We actually had 3 BRDs and 3 WHMs present so we wanted to TP burn one of them.  Upon arriving at sky, HappyEnding was doing a Kirin traditional style so we waited on them.  It turns out another LS, Eclipse, was up there waiting to do Kirin also but they were going to be kiting it as well so I asked if we could get in first and TP burn one since we needed to pop 3 in total.  They said sure so we got prepared for the repop once the current Kirin hit the floor.

After reminding everyone what needed to be done and setting up the BRDs for songs we got ready and blew it up!  I think it was about 60 seconds in total!  No one parsed, I don't think, but Nariseth says he made a video so I'll be on the lookout for that.  We didn't even have an ideal setup as we had no DRG for Angon and there was a RNG in the zerg alliance, but both me and Archaon were there with our M.Kris as DRK/DRG so I think that accounts for our sped up kill from the 94 second one we did the first time.

So now we waited for Eclipse to do theirs and what I thought might take an hour ended up taking 90 minutes and by the time they finally killed it, we were 15 minutes away from having 2 hours ready again, so we went ahead and TP burned another one.  The results were the same, about a 60 second kill.  Woot!

With one popset remaining, we waited on the repop and then killed the last one the traditional way.  No issues of course and it was pretty smooth as well.

All told, we were rewarded with 3 Kirin's Poles (Aliiyah, Sanoskae, Bank), 2 Kirin's Osodes (Lynkyn, TBD), 2 D.Body Abjurations (Simpson, Darklunna), 1 W.Leg Abjuration (Sanoskae), 3 Shining Cloths and an O.Ingot.  A pretty good haul and a relief to finally get more W.Legs since our last drops were 11 months ago.

Other Small Notes:
- After camping Wyvernpoacher on 2 separate occasions for about 6 hours total, he finally popped only to not drop the O.Bow I'm seeking.  D:
- Salvage was a bust over the weekend as we targeted Zhayolm but got no ranged cells to drop and couldn't unlock a full 3 members to pop the 5F frog.  Beyond that, bad luck along the way caused us to time out on the boss, which is one of the easiest there is.  ARRRRrrggghhh.

Quotation of the Day: "lets not discusss "bad" cuz this ls tops it i think" - Okita/Pent, whom I was chatting with and is in Eclipse at the moment.

Hey guys, did you hear about the new Final Fantasy MMO?
[info]vedderffxi
So apparently the biggest news rampaging through the FFXI universe this week deals with the announcement from Square-Enix at E3 that they are making a new online RPG, Final Fantasy XIV.  I must say, the trailer looks pretty cool.... but the rampant speculation is even crazier than normal considering all we've gotten is a less than 2 min trailer that contains very few shots of actual gameplay.

I always told myself that FFXI would be the first and last MMO I ever play, but I might admit that I'm intrigued by this new offering at this point.  I'm going to be in quite a different position in my life when this new one comes out compared to when FFXI was released so who knows if I'll even have the time to put into a new game, but my gut feeling is that I'll at least give it a shot since I'm such a Final Fantasy honk.  When I think back, although I have tons of fun playing now, I really enjoyed the first year or so of FFXI.  Nostalgia perhaps, but I think I truly enjoyed doing all the new player stuff the first time through.

Now on to other stuff...

Limbus:
The linkshell did an Ultima for the first time in a long time.  It was a win, but apparently there was a mix-up with the Screens during the Citadel Buster phase and most everyone wiped so Clan and Arch had to eat a zillion Citadel Busters in their Magic Defense gear while they raised up people to finish it off.  Months ago, such a circumstance would have certainly resulted in a loss so it was cool that they still won despite the troubles.

As usual, drops were lame including another Head as well as Feet.  Wodie snagged the Feet and the Head free-dropped cause no one wants to use points on it, haha!

Total Ultima Drop Summary (7):
Nashira Crackows - 3
Nashira Gages - 3
Nashira Manteel - 0
Nashira Seraweels - 3
Nashira Turban - 5

I also realized that I forgot to post about an Omega that the LS did in May, so belated congrats to Isominds (Body), Evangel (Feet), and Sanoskae (Hands) on their shiny Homamz.  Yes, you read that right... another Body.

Total Omega Drop Summary (34):
Homam Corazza - 14
Homam Cosciales - 14
Homam Gambieras - 21
Homam Manopolas - 14
Homam Zucchetto - 19

Other Stuff:
Salvage is frustrating me a little bit.  The malaise that I expected to appear after a month or so of runs has started to set in and after having 8-9 show up early on, we're never really over 6-7 anymore.  Don't get me wrong, that's a good number for most zones, but it's getting a bit harder to organize because of people not wanting to come or being impatient or whatever.  I've tried to stress to everyone that this is "our" Salvage group, but I think people enjoy making me the de facto leader so they have someone to bitch to and not have to take responsibility for anything.  When we started, I was probably the second most experienced person in our group with Salvage behind Wodie, so I took the lead to set up some guidelines and try to plan the zones we could do based on drops we need and probability for success.... but that's it.  If people have problems now with what zones we do or what the drop rules are then I sure wish they'd offer suggestions instead of complaining to me about it because I could really go any direction on a lot of it.

Part of the whole reason I joined my first Salvage group last year was because I didn't have any responsibility and I knew that I could learn the zones for myself while still being in a group that was not completely full of noobs.  I'm a bit boxed in now because I don't have a lot to offer a Salvage group besides TH4 and the ability to pull/lead/organize stuff ... so I guess I'm sort of stuck with my de facto role if I want to get anything done.

Hmm... what else?  Oh, killed Xolotl last night for a fancy new title and a Zoolater hat that went straight to a NPC.

I got RNG to 60, Hmmm... Sunday night perhaps?  It was over the weekend for sure.  Selene's Bow equipped!  Sigh ... I'd like a Euryto's or Vali's but I'm cheap and busy respectively so I don't see one of those in my future soon.  Luckily Selene's is pretty close to those Bows during certain moon phases, so at least I'm not gimp.

Shabet quit Immortality earlier in the week.  I think she was expecting some sort of fanfare and melancholy over her departure, but she hasn't really done anything with the LS since February and that was Dynamis only for the most part.  She's not been a regular at other events in well over a year, so it's sort of like she quit a long time ago.  Hopefully I'll still see her around in a social setting, but I think Immortality will weather this departure just fine.  >.>

In closing, Wing 3 Einherjars make me want to rage... almost as much as disappearing feather mules that require us to have to do multiple Wing 3s before our next Odin.

Quotation of the Day: "" - teasing Precursor is fun.

Messing Up Stuff I Know We Can Do

The weekend was a bit of a bust, with a couple of silver linings.

Prior to the weekend, I actually went with the LS on a Sky event for the first time in awhile.  My softball game was canceled, so I was free to head up there.  Even though I'm 100% geared with stuff I want from Sky, I still find it fun in moderation.  We had a good run too, killing a few triggers and then doing 2x Suzaku & 2x Seiryu which completed our 2nd and 3rd Kirin popsets.  It's been a few months since our last Kirin, but we'll be heading up this coming weekend to visit the stingy bastard again.  It's coming up on 11 months and who knows how many kills since our last W.Legs dropped so I hope he's in a giving mood.  We've got a few members who are dedicated and in need of them... so OUT with the W.Legs already!!!

ZNMs:
I was disappointed with ZNMs as a whole on Saturday, but I myself made some progress.  There weren't as many folks as usual, I think someone mentioned it was graduation weekend for a lot of people, but we made due with what we had.  We killed some Cheesehoarders while waiting on folks to show up then we did 2 Armed Gears to complete a Tinnin for a LS member.  Neither dropped Aurum, of course.

After that, we went to pop our LS Tinnin.  We ended up only having 12 folks total which was plenty ... however, both the PLDs were first timers and so was our tank party support, I think.  After Tinnin regenned all his heads, we got him down to the 67% range when in quick succession both of the tanks died and it got messy from there.  Thankfully, Evangel dropped from alliance and kept Bio'ing it and Reraising so we could recover.

Of course, once we all got back up it was a normal smooth kill ... but we got boned hardcore on drops, only getting materials and an Oracle's Cap.  Boo.  :(

Afterwards, we killed a couple Marids and called it a night.  I'm 1/3 of the way to popping another Tinnin... I just need to do another Maird and a Dea & Gotoh.  I'm gonna need more zeni though, because just about all I have now is reserved for Sarameya. :D

Einherjar/Dynamis:
I was unable to attend Einherjar Sunday, but returned in time for Dynamis.  To my mild surprise, the LS was successful at defeating Wing 3 Ortlinde's Chamber and had 5 minutes or so leftover.  Sadly, as I've mentioned before, we lost a feather mule so we're gonna need one more W3 win before we can do Odin again, but getting one out of the way now was great.

After Einherjar, we were back in Dynamis-Xarcabard, this time for a trip to Dynamis Lord.  Things went well on the way to DL as we picked up a couple of HQ coins and a few scattered AF2s.  However, when we got to DL the disappointment started.  After changing jobs and prepping exactly as we should, we engaged and took him down to about 20% before he got an Oblivion Smash in and killed most of our DDs.  After that, we fought valiantly to zombie and finish him off but our last members fell when he was at 1% and it was too late.

I must admit, I don't get too mad at this game, but when we fail at something I know we can defeat it really pisses me off.  Granted, we don't have any kraken clubs at all, but we had 4 M.Kris DRKs there, so that should have been enough.  Besides me, all of them are lacking some important gear for an ideal build, but we should have been able to kill it anyway.  I can't even really point to one thing because we executed everything perfectly, he just got a Smash in and from there I guess it was a bit of panic or other unfortunate circumstances.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ... we've zerged about everything you can zerg at least once, but we're NOT a zerg linkshell... that's for sure.  We're just not geared up well enough to do it efficiently and we lack consistency to do it when we want.

Salvage:
Outside LS events, we've been having some nice luck with Salvage.  The last 2 Silver Seas have dropped items for us and people are getting the hang of it and getting some items.  It would be nice if 35s besides Marduk decided to drop, but whatever ... we have at least 3 people that want Marduk stuff so any 35 is better than no 35, but I personally would love to see some Skadi soon one of these days.

Quotation of the Day: "Back, I was just congratulating DL on his victory" - Rizelmine, returning from AFK after DL.

Not much excitement to report
[info]vedderffxi
It was a holiday weekend in the U.S., so if you were expecting an update from me yesterday, tough!  :P  If I was going to sum up what's happened since my last update in one word, that word would be disappointment.

Sea NMs:
We had a nice set of outside Jailer pops ready to go Thursday and got started on them right away.  Hope, Justice, 3x Prudence, and 2x Love... guess what we got for our efforts aside from the 100% drops?  A Novia Earring.  ;;  Yeah... no torques or Novios.  The evening was super smooth though, and we did it all in just under 4 hours, which was great ... I just wished our drops were commensurate with our effectiveness.  Now it's back to farming up more pops for our next time out in a couple weeks.

Salvage:
We had 2x instances of Salvage over the weekend.  First on Friday, we did our first Arrapago Remnants which was executed more or less flawlessly.  We killed 2x QQAs & QQTHs, plus the Chariot NM and the zone boss, Armored Chariot.  No 35s to show for our efforts, but Evangel's 25 Marduk Body piece dropped.  That dude has 2 objectives now... get 12 imp. wootz ingots and level BRD to 75, rly.

Last night we entered Bhaflau for our first try at the boss.  Our timing was such that we farmed all 100% of the 2F rampart, but nothing else.  I'd hoped that we could do the 4F rampart also, but it appears it's too time consuming unless you cut an earlier rampart short.  Anyway, when we got to 4F, I linked one of the gears and another one warped before dying, so we didn't get a fully weakened zone boss.  I was afraid it was going to be a slaughter, but we did quite well.  Once we got until 10%, things got a bit messy and we wiped with it at 1%.  Evangel and I tried to get up to finish it off, but it killed Evangel and then it died from DoT before I engaged it, so we "beat" the zone, but didn't get any drops from the boss for our efforts.... QQ.

Dynamis:
We entered Dynamis-Xarcabard for a farming run and only came away with 4 AF2, so enter disappointment once again.  I had wanted to try Dynamis Lord, but we were missing all of our multi-hit DRKs and even though we could have killed it anyway I didn't feel like begging BRDs to change jobs and all that shit, so we tore apart the zone in hopes of AF2.  We will be doing a Dynamis Lord again soon, it just wasn't meant to be this week.

Other Stuff:
- Got started on our trip to our next Odin with a Wing I win.  We were going to do Wing II, but our feather mule that needed it wasn't there.  One feather mule has disappeared, so now we're down to 3 and none of them have more than one Wing III feather, so we're gonna have to defeat Wing III twice to access Odin again unless our other mule shows back up sometime.
- XP'd Ranger to 58.  Had a party with LS people in Sauromugue [S] to get to 55 & change, then I did some FoV to ding 56.  Then yesterday, we did Colibri which got me halfway to 59 and best of all, Jam came along and finally got her BLM to 70... how exciting.
- Lastly, I found that 4 Mercurial Kris were up on the AH last night so I bid and won one for 300k less than the going rate.  It was still a couple hundred more than I wanted to pay, but I've got one of my own now and I can always sell it again if the price surges since that item tends to fluctuate a lot.

Quotation of the Day: "Oh hey, what's this" - Me, using Sidewinder for the first time in our XP party... since I was sort of using it as an Archery skill-up party as well.  :o

Cock Talk
[info]vedderffxi
So last night was our once monthly Wednesday Dynamis and people seem to be more responsive to CoP zones, so we hit up Buburimu.  We cleared Apoc Beast with about an hour and 45 minutes left, so we farmed the hell out of the zone after that.

Normal path of Crabs, Efts, Goblins to start the farming, but after that we went up into the pass between Mandragoras and Cockatrice.  We usually do some Mandies in the zone, but not always... this time we cleared them and attempted our first pull of Cockatrice.  We usually never do them because they used to have the same drops as Crabs, but I was led to believe they drop SCH belt so it was time to see what they were all about.

And what were they about, you ask?  Well, big links and lots of jokes about cocks.  It was pretty funny, even though we were in a hectic situation, I couldn't help laughing at all the jokes... some were dumb, but some were clever so it was all good.   After pretty much a wipe in the middle of the cocks, we rested up and pulled the remainder only to have no luck on the SCH belt drop.  (Edit: Wiki says unconfirmed anyway, so blah)

To finish up the run, we did some Dhalmels... which dropped a COR -1 hands right as we were exiting.  They didn't even show in the log, just the Treasure Chest before we got kicked.  Luckily for us, Dragonfly was the last person in the zone so she got them... she actually had them declared in her search comment, so it was awesome that she got them.

Final tally for the zone was a disappointing 2 DRG belts, 5 AF2-1 Gloves (THF WAR RDM BLM COR), and 7 regular AF2.  Not a bad haul overall, but we need better accessories than that.  D:

Salvage:
Our normal Salvage run was successful on Monday night, making it to our goal of killing both 5F and 6F Poroggo Madames in our first Zhayolm Remnants.  I messed up the cell order, so we probably weren't as efficient as we could have been and timed out just as we were able to port up to the boss.  The run was great and dropped an Enlil's Gambison which Evangel won.

Oh a whim, we decided to Salvage again on Tuesday after Limbus and this run was even better.  We had 6 total and entered Silver Sea Remnants.  We killed Hammerblow, Dekka, G1, G3, and Chariot boss all before time expired.  I thought it was a lofty goal when we set out, but everyone did great and we accomplished what we set out to do.  None of the NMs dropped 35 armors, of course, but we got a couple more 25 pieces from the boss which at this point is progress nevertheless.

----------

To wrap this post up, I want to wish best of luck to ElectricMayhem who should be attempting their first Odin tonight if I have my information straight.  They've battled for awhile to get access and from what I've seen have a very solid alliance ready to take him down.  I'm looking forward to reports of more non-HNMLS King abjurations proliferating the server after they're done.  ^^

Quotation of the Day: "" - a couple examples of our fun cock talk.

Odin #5 - More E.Body!; KS99; Dynamis-Bastok, lol.
[info]vedderffxi
It was a pretty good weekend in FFXI, although I didn't play much outside of events.  I'll sort of jump around for a recap.

Odin #5:
The probability of us doing Odin yesterday was somewhat in doubt because we only had 27 people with access and I knew 2 that wouldn't be there for sure.  As the time for the run approached, we ended up missing another, a SMN, putting us at 24.  I was actually quite concerned that we'd not be able to win, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway.

If you're an avid follower of the LS or this journal, you'd be thinking, "Hey, didn't you all kill Odin with 25 before?" and the answer would be yes.... 24 + a feather mule for a total of 25 on our 2nd Odin kill.  However, the main difference this time was that our normal Fomor kiter, Wodie as RDM/THF, didn't have access ... so to handle the Fomors, we went with 3 NIN/WARs and a RDM/WHM.  The plan was to just voke them as they popped and blink tank them until despawn.  This was easy enough, but it effectively cut our # of players on Odin himself by 4 ... so we basically had 20 people fighting Odin.  o.O

Here's how the alliance broke down:

Tank - PLD/NIN, PLD/NIN, BRD/WHM, WHM/SCH, RDM/WHM, 69WHM/BLM
RNG/SMN - RNG, RNG, SMN, COR, RDM, DRG
DD - WAR, WAR, SAM, BRD, RDM, WHM
Kiter/Misc - NIN/WAR, NIN/WAR, NIN/WAR, RDM, WHM, DRG

Luckily for us, our feather mule for this fight was played by a real person so we had access to all 24 players and we sure did need it.  The pace of the fight started off very well as we knocked off the first 1/3rd of it's HP in about 6 mins.  However, by that point MP was quite depleted, so the RNGs had backed off a bit and somewhere along the way Xephon died as well, so we were down a WAR which was 1 of our 8 DDs.

Things slowed down considerably the rest of the way and we got the 5 minute warning right before we prepared for the 10% death move.  We handled that fine, but due to intimidations from Yggr, we had slow going knocking off the final 3-4%... at last we did and Odin went down with a couple minutes to spare:

Nice drops!

Anyway, I'm glad we won, but it was much too close for comfort.  It did give a good baseline for what we can reasonably defeat Odin with.  We had 2 PLDs who'd never tanked Odin before, 3 combined RNG & SMN ranged DDs, 5 other DDs, 4 Fomor handlers, and the rest was support.  If we can kill Odin with that, then I feel good about any fight with 25 or more going forward.

As for handling the Fomors, I much prefer the RDM/THF Diaga+Flee method after doing it this way once.  I was one of the NINs who pulled a Fomor away each time they popped and I was the only one not to get killed by them.  The other two both died on the 2nd and 3rd wave of Fomors, but to their credit on the 3rd wave they were weakened and at least pulled them far enough away to keep them out of the hair of those focusing on Odin.

So yeah, back to the drops.  Our 3rd E.Body was definitely nice to see as was our first Neptunal Abjuration.  I was personally hoping for N.Legs, but the list for N.Head is hella long so getting one of those was awesome.

Congrats to the winners above!  Only the P.Legs was free lotted, so I'd say it was a great haul for us.  :D

KS99 Wyrm:
It'd been a couple months since we did any KS99s so we went back Saturday night.  Amazingly, we were able to complete 12 orbs in about 3 hours and 15 minutes.  I was so happy we've gotten this fight down to a science and can finish it quickly and with ease.

That was the good news ... the bad news was yet again no Speed Belts, making us 0/37 or something like that.  We got no Juggernauts either, so we're 2/37 on that.  3 MNKs picked up Wyrm Beards though, so that was good.  Most orb holders made a nice profit, but nothing crazy.  I got hosed with only 100k take away on my orb, but oh well... it's 100k that I didn't have before.

Dynamis-Bastok:
Not much to say here except lolBastok.  We rampaged the zone and completed a full clear of all mobs including repops with 20 minutes leftover.  Our net take away was 634 Bynes and 19 AF2... the 334 single bynes and 19 AF2 were both zone records.  Plenty of Wootz Ore dropped as well giving the synth lotters something to take away too.  All-in-all it was a great run.  Best of all, I didn't even pull.  Evangel had the honors and I got to come to an event on my NIN and performed backup calling duties which was a nice change of pace.  :D

Quotation of the Day:  "Holy It!!!!!!" - Clannagh, as Odin was intimidating all the melees and the clock was running down.

Adventurer Appreciation 2009
[info]vedderffxi

What stands out to me about my stats?  Well, I wish I knew where I had posted last years stats so I could see the increases in the last year's worth of playtime, but it's not to be.  Nevertheless, the only thing that's interesting to me is the 'Number of Times KO'd' ... that's a pretty low number considering I've been the primary puller in Dynamis/Limbus/Assault/Salvage/etc. for over 2 years and I'm called on to sacrifice quite a bit.  I'm pretty conscientious when it comes to living though, not to mention I've obtained Crimson Cuisses and Trotter's Boots in the last year, so those have saved my life countless times.

NPC Convos are pretty high too, but I attribute that to doing lots of quests, crafting, and buying/selling from NPCs in my early years of playing the game.

I can recite exactly the 4 times I called a GM as well... 1 & 2) When Dynamis-Jeuno glitched on 2 different occasions, 3) when I overbid on an item at AH, and 4) when Armada ganked Dynamis-Xarcabard from us and I suspected some sort of botting trickery for claiming the zone.

Quotation of the Day: "This thing hates me" - Evangel, after losing TP by trying to WS after knockback in Pulling the Plug.  Luckily he didn't nub it up any further and we still won.

First Salvage Upgrade!; Omega #33; Weekend
[info]vedderffxi
So, Monday night our little Salvage experiment tackled Silver Sea Remnants and did quite well.  We had 10 people there, but Wodie helped with what the cell distribution needed to be and we were able to kill 4 of the NMs and had enough time left to try the boss.

I'm not sure how many people had killed a Salvage boss before, but we actually did quite well, killing LAC with a few minutes to spare with little to no trouble at all.

Once dead, it dropped Usukane 25 Feet and Marduk 25 Legs.  Since I didn't think we would make it to the boss, people that could equip the items lotted on the drops and I was lucky enough to win the Usukane feet against 4-5 other people or so.

If you recall, I picked up the 35s some months back as part of my last Salvage group so now all I needed were the 15s.  In order to get them, I needed to kill the Poroggo Madame on the 4th floor of Zhayolm Remnants which only pops if you reach the floor in less than 30 minutes.  Friday night I was able to get Xephon, Elphaba, Mirallia, Evangel, and Deuteu to help me out.  It was my first time trying to get to this NM, but we did it pretty easily... skipping some equipment cells, but otherwise unlocking most of people's pathos.

After one failed sac pull, I rested up and went again with success.  They pulled the Madame off into the cleared Mamool room and killed it pretty easily.  The feet dropped and they were mine!  Many thanks to my helpers who came along!

When we got back to town, I hurried to the Auction House and picked up a stack of Marid Leather while at the same time listing my Fuma Sune-Ate.  After a quick trip to get 10 imperial gold pieces from the NPC, I took all my items to the NPC and traded them in.  On Saturday, conquest tally came and went, then I logged on to pick up this!:

Salvage armor upgrade #1 for our group, though I technically had the 35s from before.  :P  With these my NIN is looking pretty good, but lolNIN.  Clannagh said afterward that now all I needed to do was to level SAM or MNK to make use of them and even though he was joking, sadly he's mostly right.  I get to use my NIN still for Nyzul Isle and sometimes Limbus (when I go), but outside of that there's not much use for NINs these days.  :/

Proto-Omega:
Another Apollyon boss run ended up in another Body armor drop!  I saw a lot of new faces in LS, but according to Clan the run went pretty well.  The drops were Feet, Head, and Body.  Isominds picked up the Feet, Sasser the Head, and Clannagh the Body.  Congrats to them all.  In fact, Clannagh obtaining the Body gave us 5 members with complete 5/5 Homam armor.  We actually have 2 other members with all but the Head, who will probably never spend the points on it, so in essence we've got 7 people with complete sets of useful Homam armor... that's pretty awesome.

Total Omega Drop Summary:
Homam Corazza - 13
Homam Cosciales - 14
Homam Gambieras - 20
Homam Manopolas - 13
Homam Zucchetto - 19

Rest of the Weekend:
Outside of Salvage and Limbus, the weekend consisted of Wing 3 Einherjar and Dynamis-Beaucedine.  We timed out on the King Behemoth boss in Einherjar with it at 27% and a lot of people dead.  If we'd gotten any other boss, I'm pretty sure we'd have won, but it was our first time with that guy and the Meteor/Thunderbolt spam was a bit too much too take and too many people died to keep up consistent DoT in order to kill it.  :/  We're struggling now on Wing 3 having gotten new bosses (Vampyr & KB) in the last 3 runs... combined with tough mobs, like Dragons with a gazillion HP, it's not resulted in any wipes, but we've taken too long and not been able to win in time.  SIGH.

Dynamis-Beaucedine was about what you'd expect.  14 AF2 drops, lots of unwanted BST feet, and a couple of humorous pulls such as a Deluge autorun pull of Yagudos and the always fun Orc NM Charmga.  It was intended as an AF2 farming run and since we got 14 AF2 I'll consider it a success, even though the coin count was less than stellar, QQ.

Quotation of the Day: "" - Iso sounding very dirty but totally not meaning it THAT way.

Obama Torque!; Sea!; Ouryu Cometh!
[info]vedderffxi
It's funny how some weekends can be just regular ol' activities with not much to report, but then others become quite action packed with plenty of highlights to soak in!

Jailers:
Saturday night was one of our twice-monthly Sea NMs events and it went superbly.  The were plenty of bonus points had leading up to the event as people farmed up almost 3 complete popsets for the outside Jailers by killing NMs in the Palace.  We still went inside at the start and took down a Faith & a Fortitude which both yielded no Torques.

After that, it was time to head outside.  We'd done 3 Prudences last time and still had two 6th Virtues to show for it, so we went over to Jailer of Hope and alternated between it and Jailer of Justice so that we didn't have to wait 15 mins on the ??? to respawn.  In total, we did 3 Hopes and 2 Justices... the first of each both dropped Torques!!!

As you can see from the SS above, I obtained the Hope (Obama) Torque!  It was my 2nd most desired item from Sea after Love Torque, which I already got, so I was glad to obtain it.  Will be great to use on my Ninja.  In addition, it has situational uses on THF as a Trick Attack piece and on COR as an AGI+ piece to help with accuracy on Light/Dark Shot.  Finally, it's probably the best neck piece for an Archery RNG, so once I get my slow-to-level RNG up there I'll have this waiting.  All-in-all an excellent get for me.

Our Justice Torque went to Marlborolites who'd been after it since we started doing Sea.

After all of this, we had 2 complete JoLs so we headed over that way and knocked both of those out.  The first dropped Torque/Novio and the second only dropped a Novia.  Big grats to Riz on the Torque, Clan on the Novio, and Patriclous on the Novia.

Our total Torque and Earring count is growing quite nicely:
Temperance - 3
Fortitude - 1
Faith - 1
Justice - 3
Hope - 2
Prudence - 0
Love - 2
Novio - 3
Novia - 4

Ouryu Cometh:
Skipping over Dynamis for now, the other big event of the weekend was our first attempts at the Ouryu Cometh BC which is an alliance sized rematch with the Wyrm from the CoP mission line.  I'd queried the LS a couple times about who had Cloud Evokers and finally got around to setting up an event to use some of them.

We headed over there after Dynamis and after quite a large amount of preparation, we had a group that I was comfortable with taking in.  Here's the set we used:

Party 1: PLD/RDM, PLD/DRK, WHM, BRD, RDM, COR
Party 2: BLM x2, RDM, 3x DD for Worms
Party 3: BLM x4, RDM, COR

There were slight variations to this setup as we had 20 people in total for the whole night, but that was the base group we used and it worked out great.  We had 6 people with Cloud Evokers and after we got done with the 3rd one, it was apparent we got the hang of it so I asked if everyone could stay for all 6 and they did.  Our first run was 38 minutes, our 3rd was 33 minutes, but all the rest were in the 27-28 minute time frame with a best time of 27min, 30sec on our last one.  No stunning drops as most of the time we got the guaranteed items + one other material... but it was a very fun fight and a busy one for me as Corsair, so I enjoyed myself thoroughly.

By the end of the night, people were ready to be done, so I thank them for hanging in to knock out all the Evokers we had.  Here's my favorite Screenshot of the night... an orange Ouryu after someone cast a Fire based spell on it:

Dynamis-Valkurm:
Yet another Dynamis-Valkurm and no surprise, the elusive Valor Cape didn't drop yet again.  In fact, we only got 2 accessories, DNC and SMN, even though we killed a *ton* of Nightmare mobs.  We were better on AF2-1 drops with 6, the best of which was probably SCH, but we had 2x MNK, DRK, RNG, and PLD drop.  In addition, 8 regular AF2 dropped so all told, it was a good run... but for us, the main reason to do these CoP Dynamis zones is the AF2 Accessories as we've got most people a ton of AF2 so far.

The good news for the run was that we did the zone boss with our first intentional skip of Fairy Ring with no issues.  Some melees got charmed under 10%, but it was low enough by that point for the BLMs to finish it off.

Quotation of the Day: "Thanks to whoever cast Fire to make orangeyu" - Deluge, showing gratitude for the pretty looking Ouryu in the SS above.

The Rest of the Weekend...
[info]vedderffxi
The weekend was mostly normal stuff.  In real life, I almost died of exhaustion from chores and running around doing errands on Saturday.  Not to mention it was hot as balls outside, so we had to turn on the AC in April... WTF. -_-

Sunday rolls around and we went back to Einherjar after skipping Wednesday for Dynamis-Qufim (which went well ... 5/5 on winning there now).  It was back to Wing 1 and yet again we had Worms.  This time there was the Buffalo boss, so I pulled him and we battled him up against the wall.  While he snorted and knocked us around, we eventually took him down.  After that, it was merely a matter of picking off the worms one by one which was not hard at all.  Wing 2 coming up tomorrow night and if all goes well we should be back to Odin in the mid-May timeframe.

Meanwhile, this scrub LS on the server (Government) entered Dynamis-Xarcabard while we were in Einherjar so we decided to hit up a city zone.  It had been 2 months since we did Bastok or Sandy, so Sandy was chosen due to the potential coin output and people needing more AF2 from there than Bastok.

Aside from an Astral Flow from a SMN mob, the zone couldn't have gone better.  We picked up a record 19 AF2 and 311 single coins.  We killed just about everything except the mobs that pop alongside the Mega Boss ... so it was an all around cleaning up of the zone. :D  A sort of funny thing happened though.  With about 5 minutes left, I pulled a big mass of mobs which included 2-3 statues.  Follow along for the result:

Haha, as you can see we were getting a bit overwhelmed by the final pull and luckily managed to drop a statue who was hiding a Montiont in its pocket before things all went to hell!  This brought us up to 411 total coins which is a really nice number from the zone.  :)

Finally, I'd like to give a big congratulations to Parasoul who was able to scrap and claw to get materials for a Cursed Breastplate and find crafters to help him put together this rare synth for his Shadow Breastplate!!!

He's had the Abjuration since our very 1st Odin and has spent time working to get the gil and materials together for the synth ever since ... it was a real display of dedication for him to complete... and a very sexy look as well!  Grats again, Parasoul!

Quotation of the Day: "" - I don't even really know what to say.

Omegas #31 & #32
[info]vedderffxi
Again the LS did 2 more Omegas that I was not needed for and finally the drops were items that people at the top of our list wanted.  Tuesday, we had a newish member of the LS with a popset, so we killed it for him and obtained a free Hands and 3 chips toward another Omega.  The pop holder obtained Homam Legs in the process.  The Hands went to Rizelmine who'd been waiting on them forever.

Saturday was time for another Limbus and another Omega.  This time no chips were obtained, but we got the same drops as on Tuesday PLUS a Homam Corazza!  Legs to Sanoskae, Hands to Patriclous, and Body to Lynkyn.  Since we'd been getting innudated with Feet and Heads, getting Legs and Hands out to people was great!

Total Omega Drop Summary:
Homam Corazza - 12
Homam Cosciales - 14
Homam Gambieras - 19
Homam Manopolas - 13
Homam Zucchetto - 18

I'll update this post with a Quotation and make another post about non-Limbus happenings later today or tomorrow... til then, tata!

Some Goodies for the LS!
[info]vedderffxi
The weekend was not super exciting, but we managed to get a few neat-o drops for the LS!

Saturday:
It was time for Sea again and even though there weren't too many items farmed up since our last event, we had plenty of triggers to work through.  We started out inside and got Jailer of Faith (no torque), Ix'Aern - DRK (Deeded), and Jailer of Temperance (3rd Torque).  It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it took us a bit to pop Temperance, sigh.

Afterwards, we went outside to do 3x Prudence and for some reason the depop method didn't work on the 2nd & 3rd ones, so they were a bit messier than necessary, but we killed them and headed to Love.

Love was a pain and somehow the pets overwhelmed our BLMs and caused us to basically have to repeatedly sac it while we recovered.  It was a really sad display.  :/  Many thanks to Detanita for the sackage.  Anyway, Love then went down very fast and smooth and we got our 2nd Novio and 3rd Novia!  As with our first Novio, no one currently has enough points to bid for it, so I'll hang on to it until someone builds up enough to get it.

Sunday:
I don't rage about the game all that much, but I was ticked after Einherjar.  We decided to start out with a W2 since a win would have gotten 4-5 people Odin access so we wouldn't need to worry about them later.  All started out well with single black bats.  After those went down, we had Worms and the Flan boss.  Now normally, when we have worms, we pull the boss and kill it then go after the worms one by one.

Well, unbeknownst to me, the Flan wouldn't be pulled. >.>  I aggroed him and he started casting as I ran off... then he kept using draw-in and it took a couple minutes before people finally realized we'd have to sleep the worms and kill the boss where he stood.  The boss died and we started working on worms, but not without heavy casualties and we finally timed out on the last worm.  UGH!  I wasn't happy, but oh well... I guess we learned something new or something.  D:

Afterwards, Dynamis-Xarcabard was finally available so we got to do that for the first time in 2 months.  Initially we had planned on trying DL again, but I was swayed against it since some of our multihit DRKs were questionable and people still wanted quite a bit of AF2 from there... even though we probably could have beaten DL anyway!

However, we were rewarded well ... 11 AF2 drops including 2 BLM and 2 THF which had the longest lines of the night, so that was pretty nice.  BLM is now our most abundant Xarcbard AF2 with 12 total drops, that's really awesome!  :D  We now have 6 TH4 Thieves in the LS which is pretty much owner.

So after the day didn't start out well, I ended up being happy since we tore Xarcabard a new one and got a bunch of worthy AF2 in the process!

Vedder Stuff:
On a personal note, I didn't have a chance to do much this weekend.  I did grab a Cuchulain's Mantle off the auction house finally after deliberating endlessly about getting one:

It cost me 3.2mil, but they are now already selling for 4mil each so I feel good about my purchase.  It really is a luxury item, but at the same time it's the best backpiece available for any job that cannot cap accuracy (mainly 1-hand weapon users).  With the recent changes SE made to Campaign XP on fortifications, it's possible the Op that these drop from won't be available anymore... or at least until they change something.  So this should continue to increase in price ... I could end up treating it like an investment and selling it one day, who knows?  Maybe I'll need gil for a Salvage body upgrade.

Besides that purchase, I decided it was time to get moving on my RNG AF2 since it will ding 52 this week and I hadn't even started it.  Got the weapon and the Beret before I got tired and went to bed.  Next up is the Hands and the coffers.  Should be relatively easy since I can farm up keys on THF and pop coffers for quests as THF main.

Oh, and no Mog Satchel yet ... I hate the world!  My mail is either slow or they lost it and I'm gonna have to put in some effort to try and track it down, sigh.

Odin #4 - Fourth Odin Armor/Weapon Drop!
[info]vedderffxi
No banner shot this time to lead off my entry, cause I was COR yet again and the pictures and angles that I took look pretty much the same as the ones I'd done before.  :P

After much delay; 1st - Mule needing a W1 win, 2nd - SE Version Update, 3rd - Easter, we finally went back to Odin's Chamber.  We had 30 people with access which was our highest total since the very first one and it made it pretty easy to take him down.  I started out with a rundown of the strategy cause we had 8-9 people who were first timers.  Once we got in, it was the quickest Odin to date.

The first wave of Fomors was handled easily this time, but the 2nd wave didn't come until 20%.  This can be troublesome because you know there will be more Fomors again at 10% combined with Zantetsuken.  We like to move everyone out around 12% and whittle him down slowly with RNGs to trigger the AoE Death move on our timetable... but with Fomors chasing your kiter and more on the way, it just complicates things.  Luckily, we got him down pretty easily... but Zantetsuken killed both our tanks and the 10% Fomors started to cause a little havoc.

It's a good thing the last 10% is basically a zerg though, we got him down to 1% with quite a few people dead before he used Yggr and started intimidating our melees like crazy... so he was bouncing around taking potshots at people as the 10 minute warning passed, but finally died to a Jump from one of our Dragoons.

Drops this time were ok, but not great:

The H.Legs and Breastplate were the only two items wishlisted and of course D.Feet are trash.  The P.Body was our 3rd, so it was free lotted by those who could equip it and wanted it.  Congrats to all the winners.  It's pretty cool that we've gotten 4 Odin specific drops in 4 kills now ... we're just missing a Hofud.  But seriously, needs moar E.Body & A.Body please and thank you!!!

Quotation of the Day: "defeeted; ;" - Cloudpyro, because getting D.Feet is like being defeated. D:
